WHO can Jam?

YOU! Every year hundreds of people take part in Kiwijam. Entry is open to anyone from first-timers to professional Game Developers. You can either enter with a team or without. You’ll be placed with a team if you like, or you can go it alone.

KiwiJam 2023 is strictly 18+.

Why Jam?

Make a game in 48 hours! Game Jams are awesome for fostering friendships, increasing confidence and creating opportunities within the game development community. You get to challenge yourself and your creativity while you explore new roles, develop and refine your skills. And you’ll end up with a cool piece for your portfolio, or just a game to play with your friends.

Where do we Jam?

KiwiJam takes place all around the country. This registration page is for the Dunedin event, which till take place at an as-of-yet unspecified location. Stay tuned!

How to Jam?

1. Sign Up.

Closer to the jam, you will receive an email with useful details, a schedule of events, and helpful links to get you ready.

2. Turn Up.

Friday 5:30pm – 9:00pm, Saturday 10:00am – 10:00pm, and Sunday 10:00am – 5:00pm will be our ‘making’ days and times. You can continue working off site if you want, but we would recommend rest, and other personal maintenance.

During the jam we’ll keep you up to date using the Kiwijam Discord server. An invite and further details will be sent out to you once you are registered. If you don’t already have a Discord account you can create one here for free: https://discord.com/new.

3. Play Up….

All development on the game must be done within the 48-hour window. But you can bring pre-existing resources with you, such as engines, code, art, sounds etc. just don’t come with a game already made. In the spirit of the jam, it’s about what you create with your team using the Kiwijam23 theme.

If you have any questions before or during the jam, feel free to email the Dunedin team at: [email protected] and we’ll help you as best we can.

Can’t wait to see you!
